Why do you give to end factory farming?
As Sally was a doctor, our initial focus was naturally on alleviating human suffering. But that changed when we discovered the reality behind meat production. The massive, unnecessary suffering of farmed animals—and the inefficiency of this system in feeding a resource-limited world—shocked us. We felt a moral obligation to act. Looking back, factory farming will likely be seen as one of the great moral atrocities of our time. We can change this.
“Through FAF staff and members’ generosity, advice, and support, we found guidance and our first giving recommendations.”
Why did you decide to join FAF?
With no expert knowledge and limited experience, we didn’t know where to begin. Thankfully, we were connected with FAF, whose members fund the majority of farmed animal advocacy globally. Through FAF staff and members' generosity, advice, and support, we found guidance and our first giving recommendations.
How has FAF helped you in your giving?
Although our family’s giving has traditionally focused on human causes, learning about factory farming challenged us to expand our perspective. Convincing our family to include this cause wasn’t easy, especially in Asia, where it’s still a niche area. But through the encouragement of FAF advisors, individuals, and foundations, we found the courage to advocate for this cause.
