About the Role

Farmed Animal Funders (FAF) is a donor network whose members give $250K+ annually to charitable initiatives fighting factory farming. Our membership consists of 40+ high-net-worth individuals, foundations, and companies with diverse theories of change. As the only funders group in the farmed animal protection movement, Farmed Animal Funders plays an outsized role in leading major donors to give more, give better, and give together to end industrialized animal agriculture and build a more humane and sustainable food system.

We seek an Operations and Community Manager to join our small and mighty team that prides itself in being nimble, impact-oriented, and collaborative. The Operations and Community Manager will focus mostly on building and running internal operations, support of FAF’s programs for members and prospective movement funders, and will also play a leadership role in delivering a variety of excellent events.

Primary Work Functions

Operations Management

  • Track financials, develop annual budget, lead member dues solicitation and collection, process grant requests to and from FAF, communicate with FAF’s fiscal sponsor, donor acknowledgements, and support a possible transition to independent 501(c)(3) status

  • Streamline current systems for greater effiiency, including our CRM, mailchimp, team workflows, project management, etc. 

  • Implement and improve (as needed) performance management processes and systems including quarterly and annual reviews, organization OKRs tracking and reporting 

  • Maintain and update new member onboarding experience and materials

  • Handle a variety of administrative tasks including scheduling calls with a large number of participants, taking notes and summarizing takeaways during key meetings, some scheduling support for the Executive Director, booking team flights or accommodations, and more

Events Management

  • Lead in planning a variety of events each year to engage and cultivate prospective and current movement donors, including: 

    • An in-person retreat for FAF members

    • Regional introductory and cultivation events for prospective movement funders

    • Curated dinners in at least 3 regions across the US to discuss industrial animal agriculture as one of the most pressing problems of our time 

    • 1-2 day retreats to work on key topics within the movement

    • Possible learning trips within the US or globally 

  • Partner with the team to measure and improve the member experience with a focus on creating greater connectivity among FAF members and between FAF members and staff

Program and Donor Support 

  • Deliver high-quality member communications, including:

    • Monthly newsletter with timely movement updates/news, giving opportunities and member profiles

    • Improving and maintaining FAF’s website including member portal, directory and related resources

  • Support the development of new programs and projects, in partnership with the Director of Programs, including:

    • Collaborative giving opportunities and pooled funds

    • Creation of new donor materials

  • Support FAF’s donor engagement work with prospect research and follow-up activities 

  • Manage community engagement across Slack

  • Manage stakeholder and vendor relationships with integrity and authenticity

  • Manage other projects and assignments as requested

Attributes and Skills

  • 4+ years’ relevant experience

  • 2+ years’ experience planning and executing high-quality events, a plus if for HNWIs and/or philanthropists

  • Deep passion for ending industrial animal agriculture and building a more humane and sustainable food system

  • Share FAF’s commitment to collaboration, impact, inclusivity, and learning

  • Alignment with FAF’s big tent approach to ending factory farming

  • Reliable, organized, and extremely attentive to detail

  • Experience crafting well-designed documents

  • Team player, enjoys a support role that’s integral to the organization

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision

  • Ability to juggle multiple projects and tasks

  • Comfortable with uncertainty and able to pivot quickly

  • Experience with Google Office Suite, WordPress, SquareSpace, Zoom, project management tools, AirTable, Slack, CRM databases

Compensation and Benefits

This is a full-time, exempt, remote position with a starting salary range of $70,000-$80,000. Farmed Animal Funders, through our fiscal sponsor, offers an excellent benefits package which currently includes up to a 4% retirement contribution match, medical, vision and dental insurance (paid 100% for employees and 50% for eligible dependents), up to $750 a year to cover pet fees, unlimited paid vacation, 10 paid sick days, 11 federal holidays, and flexible work hours.
